Shivneri Fort holds an important place in the history of Maharashtra. Shivneri fort has a temple of Goddess Shivai, a statue of Jijau(Mother of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj) and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Shivaji Maharaj spent his early six years on Shivneri Fort itself.
